Government acquired more taxes from the people in 2015-16, say experts

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Government pocketed around Rs 103 billion tax in nine months of financial year 2015-16, according to statistics, reported Tuesday.

The figure is Rs 10 billion more than the tax collected in July-March period of 2014-15. Industries and locals with gas connections were taxed at least Rs 24 billion where Rs 93 billion was collected last year.

Rs 60 billion were acquired under Gas Infrastructure Development Charges in July-March 2016-17 period compared to last year’s Rs 19 billion.

Economic experts said that the government acquired more taxes from the people in 2015-16 due to falling prices of crude in international market then.
