ECC approves Rs7/kg increase in sugar price at utility stores
The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet on Tuesday has increased the sugar price by Rs7 per kg at utility stores. Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin presided over the meeting of ECC in Islamabad. The committee approved increase in sugar price from Rs 38 per kg to Rs45 per kg at utility stores. The Finance Minister has directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan to immediately import 500,000 ton sugar to meet the demand. The ECC has also approved Rs 10 billion bail-out loan guarantee for Pakistan Steel Mills to get it out of crisis. The committee has allowed PASCO to import 3 lakh 60 thousand ton of super basmati rice.
