President Asif Ali Zardari expressed anger over conversion of Punjab Governments Rs 51 billion of overdraft to loan on the directions of Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin, Dunya News reported Thursday.According to sources, the issue of the Punjab governments overdraft came under discussion during a meeting chaired by Co-chairman Pakistan Peoples Party at the President House Islamabad on Wednesday night. President Zardari opined that Shaukat Tarin should have taken Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani onboard before making such an important decision. On the other hand, PM Gilani stated that the finance minister kept him in dark and did not reveal any facts, sources told.On November 23, 2009, Federal Minister for Finance Shaukat Tarin had converted the overdraft of Punjab Government to loan that is due in four years. Talking to Dunya News, former finance advisor Salman Shah said for the first time in the history of Punjab, such a huge overdraft has been taken. The government of Pakistan was embarrassed even in front of IMF due to this.
