Olive plantation has been started in Pakistan with the help of Italian government.

Government has started olive plantation in Pakistan with the help of Italian government while Punjab is major partner of this project.Barani Agricultural Research Institute, Chakwal has started research and promotional work of olive in Punjab.The plantation season of olive has been started in Punjab. Ahmad Ali Auolakh, Minister for Agriculture, Punjab visited Barani Agricultural Research Institute, Chakwal to kick off the olive cultivation, where he planted an olive tree.In this regard, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council has started a project “Promotion of Olive Cultivation for Economic Development and Poverty Alleviation in Pakistan. Under the project thousands of acres olive will be planted in Punjab, KPK, FATA and Baluchistan. This project is a good gesture of Italian govt which is financially supporting Pakistan in different welfare sectors.Dr. Muhammad Tariq, Director BARI, further briefed the Minister and participants about the research activities of BARI and its efforts for promotion of olive cultivation in the region.
