Affected Areas Due to Flood in 2025
According to the latest report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), over 4,500 villages have been affected due to the severe flooding situation in Punjab.
Death toll
The Relief Commissioner stated that a total of 4.7 million people have been affected by the ongoing floods, while 118 people have lost their lives due to drowning.
2.6m people relocated to safer locations
The Relief Commissioner further reported that 2.6 million people stranded in flood-affected areas have been relocated to safer locations.
2,900 schools closed
Chairman Taskforce on Education Muzammil Mehmood said that so far 2,900 schools have closed in flood-hit areas in Punjab.
Over 2.12m acres of crops destroyed
Punjab’s agricultural economy has suffered a severe blow as floods have affected 2.125 million acres of farmland. Cotton over 110,000 acres has been destroyed, nearly 971,000 acres of rice have been submerged, more than 186,000 acres of maize have been ruined, and sugarcane over 220,000 acres has been washed away.
Fodder crops on more than 405,000 acres have also been damaged, while vegetable crops covering over 115,000 acres have been destroyed.
181,159 people affected by floods in Sindh
At least 181,159 people have been affected by recent floods in Sindh till now, according to the Sindh PDMA.
The government has established 528 relief camps, 184 medical camps.
Meanwhile, 471,392 animals have been evacuated from riverine areas so far.
Punjab govt announces relief for flood-hit people
During a press conference at the DGPR office in the provincial capital, Information Minister Azma Bokhari stated that flood victims cannot be assisted through the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) if they are not registered with it.
“How can we provide aid to those who are not registered with BISP?” she said, adding that a Chief Minister’s Relief Card will be issued for flood-affected families.
She further said that the Punjab Chief Minister has announced a relief package: farmers will receive Rs20,000 per acre, those whose houses were destroyed will be given Rs1 million, those whose houses were damaged will receive Rs500,000, and compensation of Rs500,000 will also be provided for the loss of cows or buffaloes.
