A tornado hit central Japan on Monday, injuring more than 20 people and damaging over 120 houses. The tornado that ripped through Japan's Gunma Prefecture, north of Tokyo, also overturned more than 20 cars parked in a local supermarket's parking lot. One of the injured remains in serious condition, local media reported. I felt the gust and the cars coming towards me almost at the same time. My car's side mirror came flying into my back seat, said one local woman. Many of the injured were hurt by broken windows and falling roofs. I went outside and the roofs started falling down one after another, said a man, showing his injured left arm at a hospital where he was treated. A local power company said power was cut off for nearly 3,000 households in the city of Tatebayashi.
