TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iran is equally prepared for negotiations and confrontation, but the decision now rests with the United States, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said.
In an interview with a US news channel, Araghchi said Tehran was surprised by Washington’s rejection of its proposal but had not abandoned the path of diplomacy.
The foreign minister said Iran was prepared to face any new aggression, even if it resulted in a devastating war, while remaining ready to pursue diplomacy. “The decision is now with the US president,” he said.

He said Iran was prepared to reopen the strategic waterway under an agreement aimed at ending the conflict, but in return, Tehran wanted the release of its frozen assets and funds.
According to Araghchi, Iran’s demands were not new, and the United States had previously agreed to them.
He added that Iran was not concerned about the US midterm elections but was focused on protecting its national interests.
Araghchi said diplomacy remained an option, but Washington must decide how to proceed.
