TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has said that an independent, locally driven regional system is essential for ensuring peace and security in the region.
According to Iranian media reports, Ghalibaf said Iran had received messages from neighbouring countries regarding the formation of new security arrangements and greater economic cooperation.
He claimed that the United States had placed the security of its allies at serious risk by prioritizing Israel’s interests over those of allied countries.
He added that pressure from Washington had led some US allies to feel that their own survival and security were at risk.

Ghalibaf said a new regional security framework and economic cooperation mechanism should be developed through the efforts of countries in the region themselves.
The Iranian parliament speaker stressed that regional states need to establish independent and locally based mechanisms to strengthen their security and expand economic cooperation.
His remarks come amid continued discussions among countries in the region over new approaches to regional security and economic collaboration.
