Summary Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf says Tehran seeks peace but remains prepared to defend itself against any aggression.

TEHRAN (Dunya News) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said Iran has never sought war but will never surrender to oppression, pressure or threats.

Speaking on the country's foreign policy and security posture, Qalibaf said Iran had made it clear during negotiations that it did not trust the United States.

He said the world should understand that forcing Iran to surrender or lay down its arms would not resolve the conflict. He warned that if the United States violated any agreement, Iran was fully prepared to defend itself.

Qalibaf added that meaningful negotiations with the United States could only be conducted by a country that possessed credible defensive capabilities and remained prepared for conflict if necessary.

He further said that while most countries favored ending conflicts through diplomacy, lasting peace could only be achieved through mutual respect and adherence to international commitments.
