Russia's Putin arrives in Kazakhstan for key talks

ASTANA (Dunya News) - Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, on a two-day official visit, where he received a warm welcome.

During the visit, President Putin is also participating in the meeting of the Eurasian Economic Council and the Eurasian Economic Forum.

A formal reception ceremony in honour of the Russian president was held at Astana’s presidential palace.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev introduced the official delegations of both countries to each other.

The national anthems of Russia and Kazakhstan were also played on the occasion.

Later, the two leaders held important talks at the presidential palace. The initial meeting took place at a limited level before expanding into delegation-level negotiations.

Discussions focused in detail on trade, energy, transport, regional security, economic cooperation, and joint projects across the Eurasian region.

During the delegation-level talks, President Vladimir Putin said that Russia and Kazakhstan continue to maintain close cooperation within various international organizations, describing it as an excellent example of constructive partnership on the global stage.

President Putin also thanked Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for inviting him on the visit, expressing confidence that the meetings between the two countries would prove highly beneficial.

“I thank you for the invitation. I have no doubt that our meetings will be extremely fruitful for both countries,” he said.

The Russian president also praised the efforts of the Kazakh government in preparing for the upcoming session of the Eurasian Economic Council, saying that important decisions aimed at further strengthening integration within the Eurasian region would be taken during the meeting.

President Putin emphasized that Russia and Kazakhstan continue active cooperation across all sectors and that relations between the two countries are steadily growing stronger.

At the conclusion of the talks, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding the strategic partnership between Russia and Kazakhstan and giving new momentum to bilateral economic and political cooperation.
