(Web Desk) – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced resignation as Delhi Chief Minister in two days after the party selects a new chief minister.

According to Indian media, Kejriwal announced his resignation in his address to workers at the party headquarter in the capital New Delhi.

He said that he would not to sit in the chief minister’s chair till people give him a “certificate of honesty”.

He announced that he would call an early election in Delhi.

“Delhi elections are due in February, but I demand elections in the national capital be held in November with Maharashtra,” Kejriwal added.

Kejriwal, 55, has served as Delhi’s chief minister since 2014.

He was arrested before India’s general election in March over the long-running corruption probe, which he termed politically motivated. He was granted bail by an India court on September 13.
