MUMBAI (Dunya News) – Former military officer, author and editor of Force magazine Pravin Sawhney on Sunday has said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is under pressure from China and Russia to start meaningful talks with Pakistan over escalating Kashmir unrest following abrogation of articles 370 and 35A.

In a tweet, the Indian journalist said that the talks on Kashmir resolution with Pakistan are seriously required at this moment as the Indian move does not have capability to do much beyond counterinsurgency operations.

We have made our (Indian) military unfit for present war, let alone next which stares in face, he added.

On the other hand, scores of people were injured when Indian troops and police used brute force against thousands of Kashmiris in Srinagar who were protesting against the revocation of articles 370 and 35A which give special status to the valley.

Defying stringent curfew, thousands of people including women, children and elderly persons gathered in Soura area of Srinagar and protested against New Delhi’s action of abrogating special status of the occupied territory.

The protesters raised high-pitched slogans like “We want freedom”, “Go India go back” and “Indian Constitution unacceptable”. Indian troops and police pushed back the demonstrators at Aiwa Bridge by firing bullets, pellets and teargas shells resulting in the injuring of many people.
