(Web Desk) - Sky-gazers across the United States stood fascinated on Monday as the Sun vanished behind the Moon in a rare total eclipse – a 113-kilometre wide ribbon cutting through 14 states of the country, where the Moon briefly blocked out all light from the Sun for the first time in nearly hundred years.

Rooftop parties, festivals, astronomy meet-ups, and number of gatherings were held nationwide for the most heavily photographed and documented eclipse of the modern times.

The reactions to the celestial event got even better when the US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump caught the attention of social media after emerged the photographs of the couple, looking at the eclipse from the White House, without glasses on.

According to The Guardian, at approximately 2:39, the President initially gesticulated to the crowd below and pointed at the sky. As he did so, one of the White House aides standing beneath the Blue Room Balcony shouted,  Don t look’!
