Indian spy Sarabjit Singh's sister joins BJP

Summary A convicted Indian spy on death row, Singh died after an attack by inmates.

NEW DELHI (Dunya News) – Indian spy Sarabjit Singh’s sister has joined the country’s ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

According to Indian media, Dalbir Kaur is now a part of BJP.

Singh was arrested after he had illegally crossed into Pakistan on Aug 29, 1990. He was charged with carrying out four bombings in Faisalabad, Multan and Lahore which killed 14 Pakistani citizens and was later sentenced to death.

Two inmates Amir Tanba and Mudasir Singh attacked him on April 26, 2013 in Kot Lakhpat jail when he left his barracks for a stroll.

The prisoners assaulted him with bricks and other blunt weapons due to which he suffered severe injuries in the head whereby he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital where a medical board comprising senior neurosurgeons treated him.

However; he passed away on May 2, 2013.
