Summary 20 belonging to Sunni sect were hanged in Iran, multiple Sunni scholars behind bars: report
WASHINGTON (Web Desk) – According to US media, the report released by the country’s State Department regarding religious freedom criticised the policies of Muslim countries and stated that the policies of these countries regarding religious conversion were in contrast with human rights.
The report stated that the countries that had death penalty on religious conversion saw increased rates of attacks on certain segments of the population. It was mentioned that in Pakistan alone, 40 people were sentenced the death penalty over allegations of blasphemy whereas most of the accused were members of the minority religions.
The report further stated that the Sudanese government arrested 27 such individuals last year who believed in the Holy Quran but did not have faith in the Hadith or jurisprudence.
The report also criticised the Iranian government over hanging 20 individuals who were members of the Sunni sect whereas a number of Sunni scholars in the country were still behind bars. These scholars were being executed one after the other.
It was mentioned that Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and Boko Haram were responsible for killing thousands of people through their despicable acts.
Furthermore, human rights violation in Russia and China were also a part of the daily routine.
