NEW DELHI (Dunya News) – Strong protests were held in various cities of India over filing a case of sedition against several students of Jawaharlal Nehru University for arranging a ceremony to observe the death anniversary of Kashmiri leader Afzal Guru.

During the death anniversary ceremony the students held placards in favour of Afzal Guru and against the Indian government.

Police on the complaint of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader registered a sedition case against Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar and several other students.

Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited the university and stated that if anyone raises anti-India slogans, tries to raise questions on the country’s unity and integrity, they will not be spared.”

Students and civil society while holding protests demanded to take back the case.

They also warned the government of expanding the protest in case violence in Kashmir is not stopped.

On the other hand, leader of Congress party Rahul Gandhi also visited the university and clearly stated that BJP government want to suppress the voice of the students.

Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal said that the Indian government had to pay a heavy price for the action taken against the innocent students.

The Indian media is also in fury and is busy spewing venom against innocent Kashmiris.
