At least five blasts, were heard near a tent in Kabul where hundreds of community leaders gathered on request of Afghan President Hamid Karzai for a peace jirga.Two explosions were heard while President Hamid Karzai delivered his opening address, during which he condemned the Taliban for bringing suffering and oppression to Afghanistan. A third explosion took place about 200 metres (yards) from where 1,600 delegates from across the country were meeting for three days to devise a strategy for possibly opening talks with Taliban militants. Karzai left the jirga following the attacks.Taliban claimed responsibility for the attacks. Gunfire was also reported near the jirga tent. According to a spokesperson of the Afghan interior ministry, two of three suicide bombers were killed while one of them was apprehended.
