Summary Police chief for Kandahar's Maiwand district said it was still unclear what caused the explosion
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan: (AP) - Six Afghan police officers were killed and another three wounded Monday when a house in the Afghanistan s southern Kandahar province exploded as police were approaching it, a police commander said.
Sultan Mohammed, police chief for Kandahar s Maiwand district, Mohammed said it was still unclear what caused the explosion. But Mohammed added that it appeared militants in the house were making a bomb and the device either exploded accidentally or was detonated when they saw police approaching the house.
