Summary Engineers warned government regarding their protest outside Varanasi discom office on November 10.

MEERUT: The members of UP State Electricity Board and Engineers  Association (UPSEBEA) protested outside the Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL) office on Sunday.

According to details, they demanded the formation of a high -level committee for studying the state government s power policy of Uttar Pradesh government.

Engineers alleged that the current power outages in the state are due to a government’s  wrong power policy .

RK Singh, president UP Engineers association said that Government signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with nine power generating companies between December 2010 and January 2011 and set up power plants with a total capacity of 10,340 Mega Watt (MW).

He added that after three years only one company has started establishment of a power plant of 1,980 MW, which will start production in June 2015.

He further stated that the foremost demand was to cancel these MoUs as 1,000MW production power plant would start its working by April 2015.

Dinesh Chandra Dikshit, president of UPSEBEA, warned government and office department to fulfil their demands otherwise they will protest outside Varanasi discom office on November 10.

Talking to media, Singh elaborated that government should take steps to restore the UP State Election board, this will further help to reduce the loss and will make the power available at cheap and low cost.
