NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – Findings of an Indian government report have shown that Indian women hardly have any say in decision making process related to economic activity in parliament.
Empowerment of women is a slogan of every party but according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO) s publication "Women and Men in India 2014"; women have taken only 7 seats out of 45 in Nerender Modi s council of ministries.
The participation of women in 16th Lok Sabha elections was reported as 66%, while the male participation as 67% during the same period.
The conclusion drawn by the report has shown that women still hold-up behind the man power in having a say in decision making process.
Moreover, as far as the qualifications and professions of women parliamentarians go, 34% of the women MPs are social & political workers and 44% are post graduates. Among male members, the maximum 31% are from an agricultural background, 42% are graduates & only 29% are postgraduates.
