In two major mudslides the number of people killed in Peru was raised to 28. The mudslides occurred in the Peruvian Andes due to intense rainfall that has fallen on the region in the past few days.The mudslides occurred in the town of Cancejos and Ambo. Both towns are in the Huanuco region of Peru, east of the capital of Lima.The number of dead is expected to rise. At least 20 other individuals remain missing. Local civil defense officials estimated that at least 600 people have been left homeless due to the mudslides, with 120 homes being destroyed by mud or falling rocks. At least 50 people were also injured.
