At least 25 people including 5 women were gunned down in a village Sufiya, south to Baghdad on Saturday.The victims are said to be linked to Sunni militias opposing al-Qaeda.The village of Sufiya where the attack happened lies in mainly Sunni area that used to be an insurgent stronghold. Sunni militias turned against al-Qaeda and its militant allies two years ago in what was a key turning point in the campaign to quell the Iraqi insurgency. Such places have seen a number of similar revenge attacks in recent months believed to have been carried out by al-Qaeda or related groups.
