No regrets for Babri mosque demolition: RSS chief

Mohan Bhagwat, chief of India's Hindu radical outfit Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), says the group does not regret demolition of the Babri mosque in northern Ayodha city, 17 years ago. Mobs of Hindu hardliners tore down a 16th-century mosque in northern Ayodhya in 1992, claiming it stood on the birthplace of their god-king Rama. It led to clashes between Hindus and Muslims that left hundreds dead across the country. RSS is an ideologue of main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
