Summary
India's Lok Sabh has been in uproar over newspaper leaks that a report into the 1992 demolition of the Babri Masjid mosque has indicted senior politicians. The inquiry is reported to blame senior figures in the Hindu nationalist BJP party including Atal Behari Vajapyee, LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi. The Liberhan commission report was submitted to the government in June but its contents have not been made public. The demolition of the mosque sparked nationwide communal riots. Opposition leader LK Advani accused that report has been altered. He maintained that report findings pained him, adding that the complete report should be presented before the parliament. Smaj Wadi Partys leader Maliam Singh also demanded that the complete report should be presented before the parliament. The Liberhan Commission of inquiry report will be tabled in Parliament in the current winter session, Home Minister P Chidambaram said while refusing to comment on the contents that appeared in a media report. Talking to Dunya News Indian journalist Mahnoor told that opposition was mounting pressure on the government questioning how this report was leaked to media. One copy of the report is with Justice Liberhan while another with interior ministry. She told that opposition accused government of deliberately leaking report to media from diverting attention from other issues. She said that many shameful facts about the BJP government had been written in the report but the opposition had very cunningly diverted attention towards government.
