Lebanon's Hariri formally assumes PM role

Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad Hariri formally assumed his post on Wednesday in a ceremony at government headquarters in central Beirut. Hariri formed a 30-member cabinet on Monday, ending months of political wrangling over seats between his 14-March alliance that won the June general elections and its rival opposition camp led by Hezbollah. A government acceptable to all main parties is seen as key to maintaining stability in a country facing sectarian and political tensions, as well as a huge debt burden.
