Summary Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Aung San Suu Ky arrived in India on a landmark four-day visit which will see her hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Suu Kyi, who went to school and college in New Delhi when her mother served here as an ambassador, is making her first visit to India in a quarter of a century, most of which was spent under military house arrest in Myanmar.

Her invitation is an attempt by Singh s government to rebuild the relationship with Suu Kyi.

She has acknowledged her "sadness" at India s decision to engage with Myanmar s military rulers in the 1990s when they were seen as pariahs by the West.

The talks with Singh on Wednesday will be the main focus of her visit and will come after she warned India against being "over-optimistic" about the political changes across its northeastern border.

Suu Kyi s visit will also include meetings with activists from Myanmar and a talk with students at New Delhi s Lady Shriram College, her alma mater.
