Pakistans Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi welcomed US assurances that a $7.5 billion aid package wont come with conditions that violate Pakistans sovereignty. He said that an explanatory statement issued yesterday would allay all concerns at home. During a media briefing in Washington, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that he discussed with different US officials the concerns raised by the Parliamentarians and Pak Army. He conveyed to the US officials that Pakistan would not allow any country to micro-manage it. The federal minister said that Pakistan can flexibly utilize 7.5 billion dollars attained through Kerry-Lugar bill. The US will not guide regarding this; where as US has denied to amend the Kerry-Lugar bill, he revealed. The FM also said that this clarifying statement is a significant document which will be associated with the bill and it will also be a part of the law. He said that the US officials have ensured that they are not concerned with Pak Armys operations and promotions; they only want to strengthen Pakistans economy.
