Taliban threats scared voters and dampened turnout as the voting for Afghan president has been finished. While the rocket attack killed six people in Kandhar. Insurgents killed many Afghans in scattered attacks, but militants failed to disrupt the vote. Three suicide bombers and police exchanged fire in Kabul. Polling was started at 7am local time. Afghan president Hamid Karzai cast his vote in a school near the Presidential Palace in Kabul. Afghan Foreign Minister and other officials accompanied him. Low turnout in the south would harm President Hamid Karzai's re-election chances and boost the standing of his top challenger, former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah.
