BARCELONA (Web Desk) — A Spanish pastry chef has created a spectacular 500-kilogram wedding cake that took around 1,800 hours to complete, turning a traditional wedding dessert into an elaborate work of art.
Catalan pastry chef Marc Suarez described the creation as his most impressive wedding cake to date. Standing 3.5 metres tall and 1.8 metres wide, the enormous masterpiece is decorated with thousands of handmade sugar-paste flower petals.
The cake was commissioned by a Saudi family for a royal-style wedding. Suarez spent around one and a half months developing the concept, followed by another four months bringing the design to life.
Although he normally works alone, the scale of the project forced Suarez to seek help from fellow pastry chefs, their families, friends and acquaintances. More than 33,000 individual petals were used to decorate the cake.

Suarez said the newlyweds wanted something that would not simply look like a cake, but resemble a memorial architectural structure that would pay tribute to both the wedding and the iconic venue.
In a surprising detail, Suarez revealed that only around 0.1% of the entire creation is actual cake. Most of the 500kg structure consists of painstakingly handcrafted sugar paste and white chocolate.
The massive wedding cake stands as an extraordinary example of pastry craftsmanship, combining culinary skill, architectural design and thousands of hours of manual work.
