Praying for religious harmony and prosperity in the country devotees offered a 786-foot long religious cloth at the shrine of Sufi Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer, Indias northwestern Rajasthan state.The number 786 is considered a sacred number in the Islamic religion.Thousands of pilgrims began their journey from Jodhpur city of the state with the cloth on Sunday and after resting in Ajmer that evening began the walk to the shrine on Monday morning.As the cloth reached closer to the Sufi saints shrine the crowd grew in numbers with devotees flooding to hold the cloth and place it on the shrine.We have presented this 786 feet long cloth to pray for communal harmony at the beginning of 2012 and pray to God that may this be a prosperous year for all and may peace and harmony prevail between all religious groups in the country, said a devotee.The shrine of Ajmer was famous for attracting prominent personalities as many Bollywood celebrities including icon Amitabh Bachchan and superstar Shahrukh have offered their prayers.
