GERMANY (Web Desk) – A property abandoned in 2004 that was swimming in mould has gone viral with TikTok users saying it looks like something out of a video game.
Yannik, 21, is based in Germany and is an urban explorer who spends a lot of time touring the world s strangest abandoned properties.
In a TikTok clip, an urban explorer walks into the bedroom, hallway and kitchen of an abandoned home that s been left to fend for itself ever since the year 2004.
As a business and economics student, he had toured all over countries including Belgium, Germany, Slovenia, Egypt and Luxemburg.
Along the way, he identified horrible homes that have been left to rot for years.
He has since gone viral, having shared a property that was overrun by mould, which several compared to videogames, including Resident Evil and The Last of Us.
In a TikTok clip, Yannik walks into a bedroom, hallway and kitchen of an abandoned home.
With the help of a torch, he explored the rotting property.
The furniture was dappled with mould, and spores can be seen flying through the air.
Since the occupants died more than 10 years ago, kitchen items, tables and chairs have been left to rot.
The clip has gone viral with more than 10million views and 442,000 likes.
One user commented: "That s just a set from The Last of Us.
"The fact that you can see the spores flying around on the camera," said another viewer.
"Kind of looks like it s underwater. You re swimming in the mould," said someone else.
"It s dangerously beautiful," said another user.
Someone else wrote: "Why did I hold my breath the whole time?"
"Resident Evil 7 vibes," said another person.
Someone else added: "I thought this was Titanic footage for a second."
For Yannik, exploring locations like this is practically just another day in the office.
"You never know what is waiting for you inside these places," he told NeedToKnow.online
"When you go to these places, you really feel like time is standing still for a moment.
"I ve never seen so much mould in a house.
"A friend from France gave me some clues for the place and after a while I found it via Google satellite, so I just picked up a friend and we drove seven hours to that place.
"In the location, we ve found some documents of the former people that lived there. The last date I found was 2004 so it was abandoned around that time.
"They both were pretty successful in their life - the man worked in a bank in the city but I couldn t find out anything about the wife s work.
"The woman played some songs on the piano. They had no children and died in 2004.
"Since then, no-one took care of their home, and in France they have a really weird heritage system, so the house has since fallen into disrepair."
Yannik began urban exploring in 2019 and decided to document his strange findings on camera.
He added: "I started with exploring some big ruins near my home area with some friends in the night.
"I really got interested in that, so I started to search for some better places and contacts in the urbex scene.
"After some time I really found these incredible furnished places, where everything is left behind and nothing trashed."
