Indian man digs out canal single-handedly in 30 years
(Dunya News) – Elderly man Laungi Bhuiyan in India’s Bihar has single-handedly dug out a canal in 30 years by using only hand tools.
Three decades ago, Laungi had decided to fix the water shortage problem in his area instead of running away from it. So, he started digging out a canal to bring the water from the hills to a pond near his village.
Sources told that he dug 4-feet wide and 3-feet deep canal. “It took me 30 years to dig this canal which takes the water to a pond in the village,” Bhuiyan told.
“For the last 30 years, I would go to the nearby jungle to tend my cattle and dig out the canal. No one joined me in this endeavor. Villagers are going to cities to earn a livelihood but I decided to stay back,” he added.
