400-year old functional sewerage system discovered in Lahore Fort
LAHORE (Dunya News) - A 400-year-old sewerage system has been discovered in Lahore fort, much to the surprise of experts. Traces of lighting arrangements in the drains are still preserved and experts have declared it completely functional after testing.
The surprising revelation shows a centuries-old underground sewerage system under the fort. In the 600-meter long system, all the usual drainage requirements have been met with utmost skill. The system consisting of small and large ducts even has adequate lighting arrangements.
The drains of this system, which are believed to have been completed during the reign of Mughal Emperor Jehangir, are firmly in place even after four hundred years. The full functionality of the system, which includes clear traces of running water during testing, has amazed experts, pushing them to learn more about its architecture and history.
