The students take this programme to prepare for a series of tests that measure students knowledge of English, mathematics, history and science. Students listen reworked version of rapper 50 Cents number one hit song In Da Club, using the songs original beat the lyrics are rewritten to detail Russias communist revolution. The music helps deliver more than just information to the students. It is getting students to memorize key terms and key events. It builds up their confidence because they are making connections between different times in history and are recalling things. Fresh Prep began in 2009 as a new way to help students who had previously failed the Regents Exams. It is now being used in eight schools in New York City and the goal is to add 20 schools next year.
