Dead body of mother hugging 8-month-old baby found underwater

On 7 Oct, a small boat was sunk in the waters of Lampedusa, overturned due to rough seas.

ROME (Web Desk) – Dead body of a mother hugging her eight-months-old child found underwater from the sunken shipwreck off the Italian island of Lampedusa.

The discovery was made possible thanks to the use of an underwater robot that had long been investigating the area. The next few days will be carried out recovery operations by the Coast Guard. It is possible there are also other bodies in the vicinity of the boat, since there are 17 missing and the bodies recovered 13.

According to Teller Report, The ship with probably more than 50 people on board had sunk on Monday a week ago from Lampedusa. Thirteen women s corpses were recovered immediately thereafter. An underwater robot had tracked down the wreck with 12 dead on Tuesday.

The shipwrecked boat on Monday 7 October was located about sixty meters deep and six miles south of the Sicilian Island. At least 12 bodies have been identified by divers of the Coast Guard.

"We believed in it until the end. The Lampedusa Coast Guard personnel and the divers  core did not give up a single day, despite the ordinary workload that continues to weigh on Lampedusa," said Salvatore Vella, deputy prosecutor of Agrigento. He also added that "our military fielded all their professionalism and their hearts too".
