65-year-old blacksmith builds 'double-decker' cycle in Multan

(Web Desk) – A 65-year-old blacksmith has been turning heads after structuring a bizarre 5ft 5inch ‘double-decker’ bicycle – which he rides without safety gear.
Ghulam Hussain, who hails from Multan, has built a unique two-wheeler within three days for fun by welding one bike on top of the other.
The father of six children spent about Rs7,000 for making this one-of-a-kind vehicle at his shop.
Since then, Ghulam has been riding the bike around the streets of the city to astonish observers.
He said: “I started riding a cycle in childhood.
“One day, I thought of making a special cycle which no one has ever seen so I got two cycles and welded one on top of another.
“People look at me coming on this big cycle and they cannot believe an old man like me is fit enough to ride such a cycle.
They clap for me and waive at me from a distance.
“I particularly enjoy the reaction of children when they see me and get surprised because they have not seen such a cycle before.
“I don’t need any special permission or license to ride it either.”
While Ghulam spends his normal working week fixing iron wares, he takes his personalized bike for a spin around the city on Sundays.
And though the cycle has a big carrier attached, he never takes his wife or children on a ride because he believes it could be a dangerous for them.
Ghulam said: “I am not scared of the height of the bike because I know how to balance it.
“It is customised for me so I don’t wear any safety gear; it is just a cycle!
“But I don’t take any of my children or my wife for a ride as it is pretty high and they could fall.”
