(Web Desk) – Second-born children are more likely to get in trouble, and are in fact the real troublemakers most of the times, findings of a study claimed.

The younger kids more often go to juvenile prisons, get struck by detention and punishments during their lifetime. The matter, termed as curse of the second-born child, came to light when studies compared the lives of first-born and second-born children.

A study titled “Birth Order and Delinquency: Evidence from Denmark and Florida” found that “second-born boys (children) are substantially more likely to exhibit delinquency problems compared to their older sibling”. It was seen that the first-borns experience undivided attention until the arrival of the second-born, and have extended childhood parental investment.

Earlier researches also hinted such results. One study observed that first-born children are more likely to do better in education with their higher IQs, and ultimately earn higher wages through employment. It stated that first-borns may have mental edge over second-borns.

However, the results of these studies cannot be generalised as the factors vary from place to place. These studies have been carried out in areas within the United States and Europe.
