People claimed 'half human half beast' was sent by the devil, born by bestiality and witchcraft
(Web Desk) – This ‘half human half beast’ lamb has terrified not only the locals in South Africa but also the entire internet. The village residents have started claiming that the ‘half human’ lamb has been sent by the devil and it was born out of either witchcraft or bestiality, or both.
Actually, a sheep gave birth to an unusual looking lamb in the Lady Frere area in the Eastern Province of South Africa, which died right after being born. Thousands of the residents, including farmers, were convinced that the creature was sent by the devil, and had signs of bestiality and witchcraft in its formation.
The pictures of this creature went viral on the internet as the experts in the Eastern Cape Department started carrying out tests to know the reason of this anomaly. Even the Chief Director of Veterinary Services Dr Lubabalo Mrwebi told the lamb looked like a human at first glance, but tests and investigation told otherwise. He said, “We can confirm this not a hoax photo but that the severely deformed lamb was born by a sheep in Lady Frere this week which at a glance resembles a human form but it is not human. It is a deformed stillborn lamb sired by a sheep and was subsequently infected by a Rift Valley Fever at an early stage of its pregnancy.”
The animal physician started telling about the biological technicalities. He told the fertilization of sheep ovum and human sperm is impossible as sheep have 28 pairs of chromosomes which are more than that of humans (23 pairs). He confirmed that the unusual creature was born due to inconsistent growth in early foetal development fetal. Mrwebi found that the pregnant sheep was suffering from RVF virus.
The local residents were superstitious to believe it was a result of witchcraft which is played in the area. Others were worried that the lamb was a result of sheep-man intercourse. They wanted the animal to be burned so that it can avoid bad luck.
