SYDNEY (AFP) - More than 800 people wrapped up as mummies to break a world record and celebrate the ancient Egyptian practice.
“I’m actually doing an ancient Egyptian research project at my school and I came here to do some research and we started to participate in the mummy thing,” said a participant Juna Elliot.
The event is part of a joint British-Australian museum exhibition celebrating the ancient Egyptian practice.
“It is wonderful to see my art being restored after so many years, I was here as the first mummy, Osiris. I put him back together, he was in pieces. Don’t you know; a terrible day. It has been wonderful to see all these people having a go after so many thousands or years,” said the museum actor playing ‘Anubis’, the Egyptian God of mummification.
