MIAMI (AFP) - A resident of the Florida Keys found a surprising visitor Thursday in his swimming pool: a more than six-foot-long (two-meter) crocodile.

The Lower Matecumbe Key homeowner called the authorities to report the reptile, the local sheriff s office said.

Experts at the state s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were brought in and "they assisted with removing the animal and returning him to his normal habitat in the ocean," the sheriff s office said on its Facebook page.

The incident follows another last week in which a woman found a five-foot-long (1.5-meter) shark in her apartment building s pool in Hypoluxo, Florida on the Atlantic coast. How it got there is under investigation.
