NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – Reserve Bank of India has printed 30,000 crore faulty currency notes of Rs1000 denomination with atleast 10,000 crore notes circulating in the market.
According to Indian media, the notes printed in the 5AG and 3AP series do not have the silver security thread which is a measure to check counterfeiting.
On identification of the mistake, the bank has halted 20,000 crore notes.
In India, a currency note is considered invalid if it does not contain the silver security thread.
Reports on Indian media state that the RBI and finance ministry has decided to burn the notes.
