PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Flash floods caused by torrential rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP) has also disrupted communication system, badly affecting cellular and fixed line sites and sending PTA workers on their toes to fix them.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and telecom operators are actively working to restore services in flood-affected areas. PTA teams are present on-site and coordinating restoration efforts with authorities concerned and operators.

In Buner, PTA officials met with Federal Minister Ameer Muqam and PTI Chairman Gohar Khan. Buner deputy commissioner and telecom operators reviewed the restoration efforts.

PTA and operators are committed to restoring communication systems on an emergency basis, said a PTA spokesperson.

Restoration of communication facilities is essential for rescue and relief operations, the spokesperson added.

PTA is utilising all available resources to restore telecom services, he said. Downpours and cloudbursts wreaked havoc in KP, GB and AJK, claiming nearly 400 lives.

With this devastation, world leaders start expressing condolences with Pakistan on human losses, and expressed solidarity with the people of Pakistan in this turbulent time.
