BEIJING (Reuters) - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is looking to keep pace with the latest technologies and hopes to benefit from China’s advances in the field of 5G, according the UAE’s Minister of the Economy.

Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, the minister, made the comments on the sidelines of the UAE-China Economic Forum in Beijing, in which he praised China’s pioneering progress in promoting 5G and expressed his confidence in the technology.

"This is something that China has managed really to take an advance in that area and we think this is an area that will be accommodated by many nations. UAE is one of them. We seek always to implement the latest in terms of technology. 5G right now is the latest in this telecommunication technology and we cannot go behind on that," said Al Mansoori.

"So we very much (care) about the need and requirement of our population but also the population of the world. It’s a tested technology, it’s a good technology, and we feel we are not worried about it as UAE," added the minister.
