China's contribution to 5G to promote global win-win cooperation: experts
The tests well demonstrated that the development of 5G technology is a process taking global cooperation, according to telecoms engineers.
CHINA (Reuters) - China’s contribution to 5G technology’s development will promote global win-win cooperation in the context of mutual dependence in the industry, said experts.
China started its tests for 5G technology back in 2016 with a total of seven domestic and international companies including Huawei, Datang Telecom and Ericsson invited to participate in some 126 projects during the first stage of tests.
The tests well demonstrated that the development of 5G technology is a process taking global cooperation, according to telecoms engineers.
"5G has no national boundaries, that is, the operators, equipment manufacturers, new energy manufacturers and a number of other manufacturers from different countries worked together to develop the 5G standard and this is a common product for everyone. Under such conditions, enterprises from many countries are actually involved in every link," said Fu Liang, a telecoms analyst.
During the phase of technical testing, foreign companies, including Nokia, Ericsson, Qualcomm and Intel, have been fully involved. China welcomes both domestic and foreign enterprises to actively participate in the building of 5G networks.
"Nokia participated in the testing and experimentation of the 5G technology led by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and three telecom operators from the very beginning. We have made over 40 industry application cases with domestic operators and other industrial partners," said Chang Jiang, Chief Technology Officer of Nokia.
Swedish multinational networking and telecommunications company Ericsson has been a participant in China’s telecommunications development since the building of the country’s first-generation network.
"With the arrival of 5G, Ericsson will continue to benefit from the market size and the market development of China. We also hope that we can become an important part of China’s 5G innovation ecosystem and we are willing to contribute Ericsson’s experience accumulated in our global 5G pilot practices," said Zhao Juntao, president of Ericsson China.
The development of 5G can really benefit mankind when it leads to win-win cooperation.
"In the future development of 5G, it will certainly be an ecological chain of win-win cooperation, inclusiveness and mutual trust, so it can really make 5G develop and benefit mankind," said Zeng Jianqiu, professor of the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
