An increasing number of leading companies in the tech field said they will not stop supplying Huawei despite the ban.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Chinese tech giant Huawei’s development of 5G technology is difficult to stop, said a U.S. expert when commenting on U.S. government’s latest move of imposing restrictions on Huawei.

The U.S. government on Monday announced it will ban unauthorized exports of U.S. technology to Huawei, forcing several U.S. suppliers to halt their transactions with Huawei.

However, an increasing number of leading companies in the tech field said they will not stop supplying Huawei despite the ban.

Dan McClory, managing director of Boustead Securities, said earlier in an interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN) that it is impractical for the U.S. to try stop Huawei’s technical development and ignore its global influence.

"What Huawei is doing with 5G, it’s really something that’s, he didn’t use the word ‘unstoppable’, but, you know, that genius is out of the bottle. And there’s such an dependency on Huawei for a global 5G infrastructure that it will be very difficult to stop," he said.

Only one day after the ban was announced, the U.S. government postponed its implementation, an action said by McGlory actually proves that Huawei plays an indispensable role in global industry chain.

"I think the greater group that makes these calls decided, you know, we’ve gotta be a little bit more measured about this. ‘Security’ words got invoked, and perhaps at a inappropriate time. This may just be creating more bargaining leverage for an eventual resolution. It’s not as simple as just saying, you know, we are gonna cut off doing business with Huawei," he said.
