(Web Desk) – Microsoft has officially announced that its smartphone brand Windows Phone is dead for good and there will be no new models for the consumers or major updates.

The tech giant has no plans to block the existing Windows Phone models available in market for sale or in use, but nothing new should be anticipated from the company in terms of Windows-run smartphones. The company representative admitted that they have closed all operations of software and hardware updates for the brand.

However, the existing users of Windows Phone will only be notified about security updates in routine. Microsoft admitted that there is no solution of bugs and errors which erupt in their smartphone apps. They have no plans to working on any Windows Phone or mobile application at the moment.

It can be recalled that Windows Phone had gained popularity for the interactive interface which impressed tech critics. It was launched at a time when Android and iOS were the widely used operation systems in smartphones.

Unluckily, Microsoft was unable to compete with Samsung, Apple and other market leaders due to fierce competition in hardware and software technology of the latest phones. The company plans to launch their smartphones in Android or iOS so that they can compete with market trends.
