Larry Page and Sergey Brin founders of Google started their PhD in Computer Sciences at Stanford University. Page and Brin started their venture in 1997 in pursuit of an engine that can organise the entire world’s information and one that is accessible to anyone in the world using internet.

The first Google Doodle was an out-of-office message. It is said that in 1998, Page and Brin drew a stick figure behind the second ‘O’ of Google. This was meant to signify that they were absent from their office. Both the founders decided that this could be an interesting way to mark cultural moments and thus Google Doodle was born.
