Summary Internet-based photo-sharing service will allow people to use augmented reality face filters

(Web Desk) – Facebook-owned Instagram has decided to launch its own Snapchat-style reality face filters. It has updated eight such filters including various crowns, animals like koala, rabbit and a spinning math equation.

The internet-based photo-sharing service will allow users to add these augmented reality face filters using their front as well as back cameras. The face filters will be available in photos, videos and Instagram’s Boomerang feature.

Instagram’s latest update will also let people use stickers and hashtags on photos and videos before sharing their stories, like during Mother’s Day. Other new features include geostickers, tagging other users, video rewind feature and eraser.

People using Android or iOS can download the latest update from their respective application depots, Play Store and App Store respectively.

Reality face filters were introduced by Snapchat two years ago. Facebook had earlier adopted the ‘stories’ feature from the image messaging app and has now introduced its own reality face filters which also appear to be inspired from them.

24-hour stories feature is currently available in different styles on Facebook, Messager, WhatsApp and Instagram.
