(Web Desk) – What might seem like an alien concept to most corporations, Apple is actually building its spaceship campus along the lines of environment friendliness, in a bid to pursue the world’s ‘greenest building’.

The spaceship campus is still under construction. Apple chief Tim Cook expressed the company’s hopes about the project and talked about how the company was doing in order to build the green building.

Cook had revealed the company’s aim about the spaceship campus during the 6th annual Climate Week in New York City. He said the company is building a facility that he hopes would be the ‘greenest building on the planet’.

The already under construction building comprises 176-acre area and includes a four-story building of some 2.8 million square feet area. The office will actually be a round shaped office complex that will house up to 14,000 employees.

The plans also include a restaurant, fitness center, comprehensive transportation facilities and dozens of other amenities.

Reportedly, the planned building will incorporate more green area than any other building of that stature.

In an interview to an American media outlet, Cook said that a lot of people believe that a company can either build a practical workspace or an environmental friendly building and that both can’t be done at the same time. He said Apple has found a way using which, the company believes, both are believable.

"Because the long-term consequences of not addressing climate are huge", he said.
