Former Olympian Asad Malik killed in road accident

Asad Malik was member of Pakistan team that won gold medal in 1968 Olympics.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan’s former hockey player, Olympian Muhammad Asad Malik, died in road accident near Sharaqpur Sharif on Monday night, Dunya News reported.

Born on October 30, 1941, Asad Malik was member of Pakistan hockey team that won the gold medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. He was member of Pakistan team that won a silver medal at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich.

Asad Malik was also member of 1962 and 1970 Asian Games gold medalist and 1966 silver medalist teams. Asad Malik was also given Pride of Performance Award by the President of Pakistan in 1969.
